Tool # 11
1) My Favorite tools include Diigo, Wallwasher, DropBox, and Google Docs. I plan using all of these in my class. Moving forward, my goal is to introduce a new tool every week and incorporate them into my lessons.

2) Technology is the way students communicate and see the world so in order to really reach them, the material needs to be presented in their language, via digital tools. Homework and projects need to be transformed to incorporate technology. As this happens I believe teachers will see an interest and more vested approach to the students' schoolwork.

3) The user-friendliness of the tools was really nice. This will promote effective usage in every classroom.  The use of tools such as Wallwisher and the skill of embedding videos from YouTube is actually very simple. This is a technique that can easily be incorporated into a lesson and will enhance the lesson immensely. Ultimately, the goal is to increase student performance by generating an interest in learning.

Tool # 10
Three things I would like my students to learn and have an understandstanding are:
  1. ·         how to protect their privacy
  2. ·         how to identify and prevent cyber bullying
  3. ·         how to evaluate a website to see if it is a good source

One of the resources I like is

I like that there are a variety of videos to introduce topics, as well as quizzes and activities to follow up. I like the idea of using a fake Facebook profile to identify the safe and unsafe practices, since I know this is something most of my students use in their personal lives. I will also have them look at sample websites to evaluate after learning what to look for.

One way to share the idea of digital citizenship is to have the students go home and share it with their parents themselves. To build in accountability, the student would then be required to write a summary about what they talked about with their parents, what information was new to their parents, and what new information they learned from their parents.
Tool # 9

The technology must be tied to the objective in order for the students to essentially use the technology as a learning tool. Technology is the vehicle by which the given objective will be mastered.

Holding students accountable for the stations will ensure that they stay on task. Students have to understand that the invaluable opportunity that they have in using these tools must not be taken for granted.

I like Thinkfinity and Learning Games for Kids. Students can use these websites for self-paced learning activities. In addition, some of the apps/ websites have the capability to monitor progress from your personal teacher workstation.

Skype, iTalk are a few of the apps I would like to use as a part of my lessons.

My students could also use the whiteboard app. This could be a fun way for students to work in groups and collaborate together.

Tool # 8

After watching the videos/tutorials, list two to three things you learned about the device(s) that will be in your classroom this fall.

I learned that I am responsible for all of the activity that goes on with all devices.

I learned how the devices work and what the best practices are to keep them charged and ready to go all the time.

I learned about all of the various apps that can be downloaded on the Ipads.
How do you plan to manage the device(s) in your classroom? Do you have ideas/suggestions that others may find useful?

I plan to closely monitor each student that uses these devices. Each student will understand the acceptable use policy for all devices that are used.
Tool # 7

Content objective:
Given the history of the cell and the cell theory, two will classes collaborate in differentiating between Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic cells.
When you plan to implement:
First Six Weeks
What tool(s) you plan to use
Wallwasher, Diigo

A brief description of the project (plan - two or three sentences)
Each class will research a different cell type and post their characteristics in wallwasher. Classes will share the information with each other.
